When was Mellow 9 Productions formed?
Michael and Adrian formed Mellow 9 productions in 2009.
Where does the name Mellow 9 derive from?
The name ‘mellow’ encapsulates a relaxed confidence in our ability to deliver. The number 9 represents the time it takes to form a new life. Since we are very passionate about all of our projects and consider them to be our babies the digit 9 is symbolic of creation. Coincidentally it took us 9 months to write the first draft of our first collaboration project ‘Half Time Hustle’.
What services do you provide?
In addition to turning concept ideas into viable projects we also provide script feedback and assessment services. For more information please refer to our services section or feel free to contact us.
What Genres do you specialise in?
We are not genre specific and deal with a multitude of genres.
What is your average lead-time i.e. from concept to first draft?
This depends on the aims of the client, nature of the project, research involved and the necessary preparation i.e. Treatment. We aim to have a workable draft within 6 months on average. Once again, it does depend on how prepared you are and what stage we are brought in.
How does the process work?
(This is a general guide only as it really depends on you and at what stage we enter the process)
- Firstly we will meet with you to determine your objectives, message and discuss the merits of the project.
- Provide a detailed list of requirements i.e. Research & Treatment.
- After sufficient research has been compiled another meeting will be set to discuss research-based character profiles (if applicable) and narrative direction.
- Once approved a delivery date for the treatment can be set.
- Treatment delivery
- Treatment discussion and feedback meeting.
- Implementation of changes.
- Client treatment approval.
- Proceed with script.
- Deliver first draft.
- Script development.
- Final draft.
- Budgeting & allocation of finance.
- Proceed to production.
What factors determine the cost of my production?
The nature of every project differs so do their requirements. Depending on your aims, objectives and budget your costs are determined by (amongst many other factors);
- Length and nature of project i.e. Documentary, feature film or short.
- Research and Preparation.
- Documentary concept outline/Film concept Treatment.
- Scriptwriting.
- Hired Talent (Actors Voiceover talent etc...)
- Producer and/or Director
- Music
